The Beginnings

Commercial expansion and first globalization: the beginnings of Bergé and Company.

Bergé y Compañía was founded in 1870 as a General Partnership, operating as a stevedoring and ship consignee company at the Port of Bilbao. In this initial stage, the activity was primarily centered around the port business in the capital of Biscay, expanding to the Port of Santander in 1928.
